First reported by aeroroutes, the new route of the Philippine flag carrier was confirmed by Philippine Airlines and the Port of Seattle. The nonstop flights will connect Manila and Seattle with three weekly flights from October 2 using Boeing 777-300ER aircraft.
Seattle will become Philippine Airlines' eight destination in North America, and the sixth in the United States. The airline's current US destinations include Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York, Honolulu, and Guam.
According to Philippine Airlines, the new route to Seattle will serve the US-Philippine travel market – the second largest tourist market to the Philippines – and the growing Filipino community in Washington State and Oregon.
“Our Manila-Seattle-Manila flights give us a valuable opportunity to promote our beautiful island country as a flourishing tourist and business destination for American travelers. We also look forward to serving Filipinos who hope to reunite with family members or experience new travel adventures in the vibrant U.S. Pacific Northwest,” said Philippine Airlines President and Chief Operating Officer Stanley Ng.
In a statement, Port of Seattle Commission Vice President Toshiko Hasegawa said: “Nonstop service to Manila has long been one of our most frequently requested routes, and we’re thrilled that this new flight will not only serve the Puget Sound’s Filipino community but anyone who is interested in exploring the rich history, beauty, and hospitality of the Philippines.”
Travelers on the new Manila-Seattle flights will be able to connect onto Philippine Airlines' domestic and international network to destinations such as Cebu, Davao, Bangkok, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Kuala Lumpur.
